Producer BOB ROCK Comments On New MÖTLEY CRÜE Recordings
November 9, 2004Veteran producer Bob Rock (METALLICA, MÖTLEY CRÜE, BON JOVI, THE CULT) has commented on the recent MÖTLEY CRÜE recording sessions that have yielded four new songs from the famed '80s hard rockers.
Speaking to the Los Angeles Times, Rock said, "There's really a great energy with these guys. But there's also a darkness that comes with it. We've already cut four songs with the original members." But he quickly added, "I didn't say they were all in the same room at the same time."
Rock also commented on former MÖTLEY CRÜE drummer Tommy Lee's apparent desire to make the transition from bad boy to good man.
"For a while, he's been in a place where he wants to put his past behind him," said Rock. "But he's really tied to his past. It's what he's famous for, that's kind of like who he is. He's still the guy I met during 'Dr. Feelgood' [MÖTLEY CRÜE's 1989 album that went to No. 1]. He's still living that life. But he wants to go on and not be recognized as that thing."
